PRESS RELEASE
Wolves Forward Kevin Love Donating Coats
to Harbor Light Shelter Dec. 21
December 18, 2009 – ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love will drop off donated coats to The Salvation Army Harbor Light Shelter in downtown Minneapolis (1010 Currie Ave.) on Dec. 21 at 3 p.m. The coats will be distributed to people in need on Christmas Day.
The coats were donated by the Twin Cities community at Target Center and five Comcast locations as part of Love’s second annual coat drive, a partnership between Comcast, The Salvation Army and the Timberwolves.
“This is a timely donation considering the recent drop in temperatures,” said Major Darryl Leedom, commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “The Salvation Army appreciates the efforts of Kevin Love and the many people who donated coats. Their generosity will help us keep the less fortunate warm as we head into the coldest months of the year.”
The Salvation Army also appreciates the efforts of Comcast, whose employees serve food at Harbor Light every week.
The Twin Cities Salvation Army serves more than 200,000 people a year through its 25 local centers of operation. Daily it serves 2,000 hot meals and shelters 850 people. More than 14,000 local volunteers help The Salvation Army provide a multitude of services, from child daycare to senior housing.
