PRESS RELEASE

Salvation Army Continues Hurricane Dolly Relief

July 30, 2008 The Salvation Army of Texas has sent additional mobile feeding units (canteens) and emergency disaster services (EDS) crews from across the state to southern Texas to supplement the 12 canteens already in place when Hurricane Dolly made landfall on Tuesday, July 22. From Tuesday until this past Sunday, The Salvation Army has served more than 36,000 meals, nearly 45,000 beverages and over 30,000 snacks to hurricane-affected residents and emergency workers.

Canteens and EDS crews from 23 Texas towns and cities are supporting relief efforts in the dozens of coastal and inland areas affected by Dolly, a Category 2 hurricane with winds up to 120 mph. The Salvation Army plans to stay in all affected areas until there is no longer any need.
