The Salvation Army Continues Response to Willmar Tornado
Youth volunteers to receive Salvation Army support Thursday

WILLMAR, Minn. – July 16, 2008 The Salvation Army responded to Friday’s tornado by providing meals and hydration to dozens of emergency workers as they assisted survivors of the devastating twister that destroyed three houses and damaged homes and businesses.

The Salvation Army will provide the same services Thursday for dozens of youth volunteers from Calvary Lutheran of Mora as they pick up wood, metal and other debris that has littered nearby farm fields.

“We are proud to assist these young volunteers as they help clean Willmar,” said Randy Stahl, administrator of the Willmar Salvation Army.

Stahl served emergency workers hundreds of meals all weekend long from a mobile feeding unit (canteen). Most of the hot dogs, sandwiches, chili, ham and other foods were donated by Cub Foods, Pizza Ranch and Cash Wise Foods.

“We are very thankful for the contributions made by these generous local companies,” Stahl added.
