The Salvation Army Needs Funds to Support North Dakota
Tornado Survivors in Rolla, Belcourt
Up to $70,000 is required for roof repairs, relocation costs, other expenses
ROLETTE COUNTY, N.D. – July 10, 2008 – The Salvation Army needs money to help Rolla and Belcourt families whose homes were damaged or destroyed by Monday’s tornado. The Salvation Army continues to provide area survivors with hydration, financial assistance, and emotional and spiritual care.
About $70,000 is required to re-shingle 12 homes, and to pay relocation expenses for six families whose homes were completely destroyed. All of these homes are located on the Turtle Mountain Reservation in Belcourt.
“Given the smaller number of homes affected, this is not being declared a federal disaster, so FEMA is not an available funding source,” said Brian Skaar, Salvation Army regional coordinator. “The Salvation Army is taking the brunt of the Belcourt community’s financial assistance requirements and needs public support.”
The Salvation Army since Monday has given emotional and spiritual care to 20 families. It has also provided families with financial assistance for basic emergency needs.
The Salvation Army is asking the public to help. To donate, please click the button below and designate your donation “Rolette County Tornado.” Checks with the same designation can be mailed to 2445 Prior Ave. N., Roseville, MN 55113.
