PRESS RELEASE
The Salvation Army Assisting Fire Survivors
in Montgomery, Minn.
February 23, 2009–Montgomery, Minn.– The Salvation Army is accepting donations on behalf of 43 people who were displaced Saturday following a fire at the Park Manor apartment complex in Montgomery, Minn.
Monetary donations, nonperishable food items and hygiene products are being accepted at The Salvation Army’s Montgomery food shelf, located at 105 3rd St. NW. The food shelf is open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Donors, and families needing assistance, can call 507-364-7321 for more information.
All donated items must be new. Because most of the displaced residents are elderly, items targeted for people over the age of 50 would be most appreciated. The Montgomery Salvation Army cannot accept used clothing or furniture due to space and storage limitations.
“This apartment complex was home to many low-income individuals and families who have lost everything they own,” said Lt. Colonel Daniel Sjögren, Commander of The Salvation Army Northern Division. “Any help the public can give would be a tremendous blessing.”
Donations can also be made by calling 800-SAL-ARMY, by clicking on the "Donate Online" button below , or by sending a check to The Salvation Army, 2445 Prior Ave. N., Roseville, MN 55113. Please designate the funds “Park Manor Fire.”
Survivors requiring financial help for unmet needs will be assisted as funds become available.
