The Salvation Army Ready for Round Two of Red River Flood
The Salvation Army is gearing up for round two of the Red River Flood of 2009.
The bell will sound Thursday, when The Salvation Army provides mass food and hydration services to thousands of volunteers filling sandbags in the parking lot of the Fargodome. An estimated one million sandbags are expected to be filled there by Saturday afternoon to help combat a second Red River crest that the National Weather Service says could reach 42.8 feet or higher by late April. New Winona Thrift Store Hurting for Home Furnishing Donations
The Salvation Army’s new thrift store in Winona, Minn. has had only one problem since opening March 27: home furniture donations are scant. Like any of The Salvation Army Northern Division’s 29 thrift stores across Minnesota and North Dakota, the facility sells gently used books, clothing, housewares, electronics and other knickknacks, then uses the proceeds to help people in need. Rochester Restaurants Raise $48,000 for The Salvation Army
